Ok we’ve not lost any chicks since Wed I think it was.
Today, new hatches are a week old. They’re on medicated feed.
No losses, but today the Silverrudds have been extremely noisy like they need something. Feed is full, water fresh, I watched & noticed that some of the smaller seem to be dumb...
Yes, Them & Hoover’s call them “Ameraucanas” but they’re not true. They’re Easter Eggers. I think there maybe one larger hatchery that sales true but you normally have to go to a legitimate breeder.
Spelling matters too. If it’s true, it should be spelled Ameraucana, not Americana (which is TSC...
Our hen may just have been a one off. She passed sadly.
We have a reoccurring pattern with our 2yr old hens, usually ones of higher production rate.
They will have a dirty butt, then we notice they’re lethargic, not laying, not eating, then liquidy poop.
We’ve only had one recover from that and...
We lost no chicks yesterday, but today we lost two.
I am not sure if it was bc of the suspected Cocci or because we dropped down to 20's last night & with already weak chicks, I'm sure that's rough. One we lost I am surprised it actually lasted as long as it did. We will drop down to 20's again...
Well aside from maybe us having exposed them, they had no exposure unless it was from RK’s 4 I did buy as they do not vaccinate.
Idk.
This is a tractor, it moves all over. Where it was no chickens had been on. Another one of the baffling things. Lol
If it’s cocci it def is odd on how it...
Oh it’s cool. They’re not too hot. If anything they’re too cold. It was 81 & some were still huddled. Others running around.
We will be dropping to low 30’s tonight, it’ll be cool in there sadly by morning. Even with 2 lamps.
How would they be immune to it though?
I’ve never had an issue with cocci in the years we’ve had them. Yes I know I’ve been blessed with that.
The only thing I would think that would make them susceptible to it is this Bresse group is genetically weak. It’s a 3rd Gen bro to sister group.
But...
Except that would be affecting the older group, correct?
They’re fine.
That’s the baffling part. The 10wk, 9wk, 6wk olds are all fine.
They all shared an area, when we moved them out they got in their stuff. So if this was cocci it would be affecting them.
Ok all need help.
Am baffled by this.
3yrs of chickens; chick raising.
Hatched a batch of Bresse with a few Silverrudds & Cream Legbars.
Oct. 31 was first Bresse hatch with 3 CL.
Nov. 9 second batch with more of above & SR.
On Nov. 15 we went in one afternoon & found one...
I want to work with cream legbars. I have the older girls I’ve attached photos of.
And my younger crew featuring 3 roosters too.
I posted them to a Cream Legbar fb group & am being told that most are not Legbars at all.
Yet all were sold as Legbars. Granted I get it, hatcheries screw up. But I...
