    Rooster Problem!

Better late than never! lol . I'll be sure to keep your advice in mind and pass it along to my boyfriend. As I think he needs it more than me. To this day the General remains my little red shadow when I'm out and about in the yard. I've even tried pushing his buttons a few times by getting in to...

    Rooster Problem!

I've heard of the backing away and not engaging thing. But honestly, it seems to me that the rooster would chalk that up as a win for him. I want to send a crystal clear message that aggression will not be tolerated

    Rooster Problem!

Ahh ok. I'll have to test this. Going in to his bubble that is. Normally when I go out specifically to see them, he comes to me, I don't go to him and I generally hold the same position. If Im out and about doing outside chores he stays out of the way and doesn't come over to my general...

    Rooster Problem!

I'm not opposed to whacking him...I just need to know when to whack him. Preferably before he tries to whack me lol

    Rooster Problem!

Thank you. He doesn't have spurs yet, even if he did, Im not opposed to charging him, pinning him down, holding him, or booting him in the *** if it saves an otherwise good rooster. As for the wing dropping, I've never seen him do that either.

    Rooster Problem!

Oh, I know better than to shoot for friendly. I'm perfectly content with how he's been up to this point. If I want to cuddle, I've got dogs ready and waiting lol. I'd just like to know what little signs to watch for before he makes his next attempt at flogging.

    Rooster Problem!

Ok all. I have a rooster question. My little General (RIR) will be 5 mos. old later this week. As he's been approaching sexual maturity he's displayed some good rooster traits like keeping watch over the hens, calling them over when he's found food, letting the girls eat before he eats, doesn't...

That's a shame about your egg. I didn't realize you could "repair" an egg and still have it hatch. But I hope it works for you! I still have a lot to learn. Especially about the whole hatching chicks aspect. Originally I'd intended to just have hens since I live in town. So I didn't read up on...

I didn't even know Altoona had a TSC until i read about the swap. I didn't have time to go check it out. I usually do just stick to my own TSC. Why drive when what I need is practically in my backyard? LoL

I'm in Bedford. I'm new to chickens and BYC. So I'm in Bedford. I'm new to chickens and BYC. So I'm not sure about any shows or anything like that. I did see some where that Tractor Supply in Altoona had a chicken swap last weekend. So maybe check with them. They may have more scheduled.

    Dust bath fear.

I'm using DE. It definitely needs weighed down. I made a mix of DE, sand, and peat moss. I just think that once they realized the dirt monster wasn't going to eat them and got in there, they got carried away and had a blast LoL They're still young

    Dust bath fear.

I had that problem with a treat block for chicks once....once being the operative word LoL It didn't take long for them to get used to it once I knocked a few tidbits off for them to inspect. Now they decent on treat blocks like a little swarm of feathered locusts LoL

    Dust bath fear.

Well its good to know my little feather dusters aren't traumatized for life....Incidentally, I noticed the other day that I'll need to refill the bath soon because it's contents have apparently been flung to the 4 corners of the earth LoL

    Dust bath fear.

I figured they'd initially be a little wary of it because it was new, but would warm up to it as soon as they realized what it was. That's what they usually do with new stuff. I was surprised when they were actually fearful of it. I'll try throwing some scratch in there and see what they think.
