Thanks so much Debbie! This baby seems to be feeling better at the moment. I will give her some coconut oil soon just in case she is constipated. She is still crying from time to time, breaks my heart. I'll get some prep H for my first aid kit and will try that.
I don't have cortisone cream, so will need to get that. Coconut oil is in the freezer. She is running with her mama and siblings in the yard, still not 100% but at least trying to keep up.
Thank you for replying. I have had so many issues this year and have had chickens for 25+ years. Stuff...
Yesterday I thought this chick was attempting to crow, but now I'm not sure, maybe the little thing is in pain. Today I noticed the vent is swollen and was a mess. I have cleaned it up using warm water and dishsoap at first, then used saline solution and a q-tip because it looked like it was...
Rooster is black with gold leakage carried down from Rufus, who was sort of buff I guess (he passed, he's in the snowy picture). Hens are black, black/white cuckoo, and white paint.
I do a hatch each May or June. Sometimes by incubator sometimes by broody hen. This year I had 5 broodys, so no incubator needed. Seven hatched and they are being raised by the Queen Mother of my flock, Isabelle. At this point I think she has raised everyone that's out there! Best, sweetest mama...
Ran out for supplies. The eye looks surprising good. Its been a few hours since I messed with it earlier this morning. Brought her in and cleaned her up and put the ointment on. I checked to see if there was anything else in there, difficult to tell, but I don't think there is. I'll check on her...
Month old chick with it's left eye crusted closed. I brought her in to clean it up with some warm water and as I was sort of scraping away at the crust, gently, this is what came out of her eye. I thought maybe I pulled out her eyeball, seriously, but she still has an eye ball, thank goodness...
This is Hazel. I noticed when I picked her up the other day she was breathing like this, but thought maybe it was because she was stressed because I picked her up. Then yesterday, I noticed she is still breathing this way. This video is from just now. It is a little warm here, 80 degrees right...
Chick 5 has arrived, still a little damp. Lots of gold showing on this one. Archie's (my current rooster) dad was Rufus, who was sort of a dark buff color. What do we think for color on this one?
