    Silkie vs Sizzle

    Silkie vs Sizzle

Ok so I understand a Sizzle is a silkie that is bred to carry/express the frizzle gene. My husband and I bought some chicks that are supposed to be silkies and sizzles (some of each). Can anyone tell me at what age can you tell which is which since they don't have typical feathers to begin with...

    Two story Chicken/Duck Coop

Lol yeah we've still had a few coolish days here and there, but for the most part our highs are staying above the mid 60s. Lows have been getting into the upper 40s-50s, but they've been doing fine and things should start warming up quite a bit for us soon and we'll be wishing for the cooler...

    Two story Chicken/Duck Coop

Thanks! I'm pretty proud of my husband for making my vision a reality! I wanted them to be able to be outside but also be able to have a bit of a block from the elements (wind/rain/occasional snow ect.)

    Two story Chicken/Duck Coop

Here’s a few I snapped of ours the other day. Still working on some of the finishing touches, but it is "done" enough for them to start living in it.

    Two story Chicken/Duck Coop

That sounds really cool! Thanks for your response. We did end up designing ours as the chicken coop up top and duck house on the bottom as originally planned. Since we've put all the birds in the coop, the chicks do like to spend time in the lower duck part during the day when they are not out...

    New polish

Don't know how accurate this is, but I found it in my google search about polish chicks last night (DH brought me 2 home yesterday about the same age as yours). But if there is any merit to this, I would say yours is looking like a little boy. Cutie, whatever it is...

Anyone not tired of playing "ID the Breed of my TSC bantams" yet?

Ok so, I have truly discovered that chicken math is real...we only set out to have 4 chickens, by the time I posted this thread originally we already had 8... Then this past weekend we lost chick #2 from the original post (Raven). DH and I have been pretty upset especially since it was our fault...

Oh ok good to know. Well I guess we’ll see in a few weeks to months when she starts growing some more distinguishable features. I’m really interested to see what she turns out to be!

These are all TSC chicks and I thought their usual supplier was Hoover’s? But I don’t know for sure who supplied these specific chicks.

Me too! Yes she is the same size as the others her age. I’m thinking maybe bantam leghorn possibly?? Or maybe she’s just some kind of mix...who knows. Maybe it’ll become more clear as she grows.

So I tried to get some clearer comb picks of my white chick #4 (Daisy) this morning but she was super active and moving a lot so it was difficult. If these aren’t clear enough I’ll try again later :)

Yes, I was just thinking that's what I need to do. Will try to get some better pics tomorrow if I get a chance.

When I look at her it looks to me like she doesn't have a comb at all, same with the black and white EE chick of the same age, where as with the others (mille fleur and red frizzle) have a noticeable wavy single comb coming in. I dunno. I thought when she was younger I could see the same type of...
