Well, Eileen is not doing much better but not doing any worse. She really does look like she just feels punky - my daughter said it sounds like the first day of her cycle, lol. And I thought that probably isn't too far off. :) She's eating, drinking, quaking (though, very quietly) so I feel more...
I'm not sure about her bill, to be honest - I probably haven't looked at her that closely. I know she's not laying right now but they all get mealworms regularly but we'll increase that for sure. I truly hope this is just "molting blues" and nothing to be concerned about. We're new to ducks. :)
Hi y'all,
My Silver Appleyard duck has been very inactive for the last day - day and 1/2, molting constantly, and her bill isn't smooth. She is eating her favorite foods but she doesn't look well. She's always been the runt of the 3 females and the others are just fine.
This is what I wanted, thank you!
We do regularly hand feed them mealworms and they come running when we shake the can and do our duck call. Although they don’t let us touch them, they will follow us around the yard too. I hadn’t considered the parasites and forgot about the avian flu.

Greetings!

Ok, yesterday was incredible. Took the girls for their first little swim (in the bathtub with just a little water). That was some next level stuff. Set them in the water, their reaction was "Well this is new", then they took off like lightning all around he tub. Talk about hilarious and...
Thank you! Yep, we tried to study up on all available material, the Appleyard breed just checked all the boxes for us. You are so right, they will be quite attractive. The other traits fit our circumstances as well. We live in a colder climate so we needed hearty resistance to cold temps...
Dear Heavens, day two for the girls, even more energy. They seem to be just fine at right around 90 degrees in the brooder. Ate right from my hand this morning... Weather is nice enough today so the run is going together and their house. Got all the parts in for a hygienic drinker, will be...
