    chickens leg hard like stone

    I have a brood hen that looks good, and she looks good and is eating and walking fine, but her leg, the upper part is hard like stone and is a dark purple. She is not showing any other problems. What can this be? And what can I do about it.

    Red butt, featherless, no eggs she is not egg bound, She looks healthy and I clean her up and use neosprosin on it. I did a vent check to make sure that she was not egg bound and I did not feel any egg. She is a Red rock and only weights about 2 pounds any ideas.

    We also have broilers cornish X. We were told to give your chicks commercial chick starter with a coccidiostat in it. Broilers do best if you feed them a 20 to 22% protein feed. Do not push them the first 3 to 4 weeks. FOR BROILERS. Restrict access to feed (after first two days) to 10 hours...

    We have two hens that have the same thing. We wash them up and were told to use lotermin (yes the athlet foot cream on the area to avoid any infection they are looking better but it will take daily cleaning an cream.

    I have that on the butt of one of my flock. This may of may not help you. I washed the area with a little soapy water and towel dryed the hen. Then I put Loterman Yes the athletic foot cream on her bald area to fight any infection try it.
