The Silkie hen we got from the TSC out here is the tiniest thing I've ever seen! It all depends on the hatchery they use. Do you happen to know which hatchery yours uses?
Thank you for all the info. Privett does carry BCMs, but have taken them, and several other varieties, off their website; I assume because they're sold out through fall. I called Privett to clarify and they said they DO have feather-legged BCMs, so it could very well just be a slow to grow BCM...
Was the French a bit smaller in comparison, by chance? I received a feather-legged BCM when I purchased my bcm (which I'm fine with) but the cuckoo I got at the same time that was supposed to be the same 4-5 days old is so much larger. I'm just trying to figure out why my BCM would be so tiny...

It has feathers sprouting out the sides of its black (or slate, I don't know chicken color names, yet) legs but none on its yellow toes. As you can see, the larger cuckoo I show for comparison in the bottom pic has a...
So this little thing is supposed to be a Black Copper Marans pullet I picked up from TSC on 3/9 (these pics are from today). In the bottom pic, she is next to a Cuckoo Marans that was said to have arrived at Kahoots the same day (Saturday). Is this REALLY a BCM? Why is it so tiny compared to...
Problem: They told me they think they sold me the wrong bird. Wednesday is not a Black Copper Maran Pullet, it is a straight run bantam of unknown breed. It's way smaller than the rest, it has black legs with yellow toes, no white spot on the top of its head, and it started sprouting feathers...
I just got my 1st Marans a couple wks ago: 1 Black Copper from TSC & 1 Cuckoo from Kahoots (both from Privett Hatchery). I got them both the same wknd and believe they were hatched the same day, as the 2 stores got them the same day. Here's the thing: the Cuckoo is WAY bigger, now. Is this...
