    Dried mud/poop? Looks like the hen had walked in mud then on the eggs. Streaks & spots, not solid or caked. Won't wipe off dry. Just wondering about germ contaminants.

    Eggs I purchased arrived less than pristine. I tried wiping them with a dry paper towel but didn't help any. Are they ok to put in the incubator the way they are?

    Must have been around 7am when the accidental unplug happened. Found this at about 7pm. Temp read 70 degrees F. Is there any chance for these bantam embryos? They are due to hatch Aug 27th. *Sob*

    Do chicks sleep in the egg?

    I'm wondering if the embryo-chicks sleep in the eggs as some don't move when I candle in spite of my turning the egg several times. Others seem to move whenever I candle. Could the still chicks be dead? I seem to see some veins in a couple of the still eggs. Cindy

    Hahahahaha! YES! I wear sandals to the barn when tending the chickidoo's. The baby's peck and watch the "wigglers" (toes). I feed them yogurt occasionally and once dropped some on my toes...OH My! LUNCH!!!!!
