Swollen above / in front of eye not responding to RX or antibiotics

Following up- I tried to express pus but it’s very hard and even after a warm compress nothing happened :/ I never saw any pus at all. I’m wondering if the infection might be deeper inside a cavity? We pushed and squeezed until we couldn’t bear putting her through so much :/

Swollen above / in front of eye not responding to RX or antibiotics

And I’ll try a warm compress and read up on expressing it, I just haven’t seen any pus or anything but I guess it could be up in the swollen area? It feels hard to the touch- should I massage it to get it out or cut into the swollen part? Probably a very silly question

Swollen above / in front of eye not responding to RX or antibiotics

I noticed 5 days ago my hen had a swollen eye, red without any other symptoms that I’ve noticed other than she seemed a little lethargic sometimes and shakes her head here and there there. I’ve treated her with RX and terramyacin for 5 days but there was no change until last night when her...

one hen trying to stop another’s bloodiness??

We’re pulling her out, taking the eggs out, blocking it a bit, I’m going to try to get her to eat tomorrow, has pulled lots of her feathers and is losing weight. Think I’ll scramble an egg or something. Yeah maybe the weather being so warm is confusing them too! It’s getting warmer instead of...

one hen trying to stop another’s bloodiness??

Hello! Coming with an unusual issue I think- wanted to see if anyone has experienced this. One of our three hens (10 months old) as the days are getting SHORTER, no less, is going broody! Has been like this for a few weeks. We are actively trying to stop it. No rooster. Something weird has...

She could on day ~7-11 post injury but now we’re on day 14 and she hasn’t pooped in 3 days.. do you suggest I lubricate a qtip and really try to open this? I have a tried a little...

    Severely injured vent- recovery possible?

she is starting to decline a bit from a few days ago. However she is still chowing down on scrambled eggs. a large scab came off, but her vent seems to not be healing as well as the areas around it (by a landslide) in fact there's a little blood now.. not sure if a scan ripped too soon or what...

    Severely injured vent- recovery possible?

I have thankfully NOT seen any signs of maggots, but I feel like it’s kind of a race against time (the flies so bad here right now!) where would I get those ingredients? would you suggest an oral antibiotic and if so, is there anywhere to get that OTC for animals? finally if the vent never...

    Severely injured vent- recovery possible?

Hello! My sweetest chicken, a docile Houdan, was attacked (“defeathered”?) by some of her flock mates 10 days ago. Her butt was brutally injured- all feathers gone and vent severely pecked. She didn’t poop for about 5-6 days… a huge scab finally came off and she’s able to poop - sort of, her...
