    Semi-broody??

    I have a Rhode Island Red that does this. She isn’t broody and she is laying eggs. The RIR hens seem to be my roosters’ favorites. Redheads! 😂 So she’s probably trying to get a break.

    Duckling gender based on voice?

    The males make a raspy sound. Much easier to hear the difference at about eight weeks. I usually take them one at a time far enough away so I don’t hear the other ducklings.

    My daughter wanted to buy a dress to wear to her graduation ceremony, so I took her shopping. Went for an evening walk. Washed laundry.

    @Tookie Thank you! This is her first time, so only time will tell. Today, she ate and went for a quick swim and back on the nest.

    None! Peggy is broody. She has been sitting on her nest and it is HUGE. 😂 My daughter marked seven eggs for her. We do not need any more ducks, but she is our smallest and sweetest Blue Swedish duck. I’m not sure if she will even stick it out. Just letting her be. ❤️

    I am happy this day is about over. This morning, I had to cull one of my oldest hens. No matter how many times I have to deal with animal death it doesn’t ever seem easier. But, this is part of raising animals. And raising animals makes me happy.
