Have carved out a homestead and lived on the border of the Pauchaug state forest for forty years ago. We have always had horses, goats and chickens. We planted fruit trees and have 16 raised beds on the south side of our 80’ long barn. Last year we filled in our 18’ x 36’ inground pool creating a other 10 raised beds for a kitchen garden. We plan this year to build a greenhouse and new chicken coop and run on the north side. There actually is nothing wrong with the coop and chicken run that is part of our barn. I would just would like to get my girls closer. Also, the kitchen garden is enclosed on the house side and two other sides with a covered deck 40 feet one side by 70 feet the long side and then we have picket fence to close in the balance obviously as a pool we needed it safe so now making it a kitchen garden. It gives me a safe area to let my girls roam. Win win!!!!
