Memphis, I'm not sure I'd be able to find a hen here for George. He's flighty and I'm not sure he'd stay home now he's seen greener pastures (not that the neighbors is any greener just not as flat, I've got trees and they have boulders) I think Narragansett would be nice to have. Maybe I will...
So Ive ended up with two lurky toms.... my hopes for baby RP is dashed. The neighbors will be eating Tonto, hes kinda a belly button when he goes next door, hes always been nice to me but I'm not a 5yr old with a nerf gun.... GG is a George I guess and needs a new home, I'm hoping someone will...
So, it is a tom.... his beard started growing in. They get along fine but the neighbors will be eating Tonto now that he wont be a dad, I at least saved him from Thanksgiving for now. I'll be sellin my tom, I'd be interested in what a royal palm tom goes for, hes nice and gets along with...
Thanks for the welcome mountain mom. Sorry you had lice nd cold, our snow is comming Monday :(
Today my tom Tonto jumped the gate and went next door, he was raised there from a chick with their chickens but breaks the coop so he was sent to me and GG to start a family but he misses their...
GG is on the right, Tonto left. They just had a major strutt off while we were closing up some gaps in the coop. So we're sure he is a Gorge not a Gloria. Tonto will likely go back to the neighbors. If I can find a hen sooner than he gains weight I may have a chance to save him from my husbands...
Hello, Im new to the thread. Just got my first turkeys this week. Royal Palms....
I purchased one with the hope to have a girlfriend for the neighbors tom, Tonto.
As of this mornin I am pretty sure that I got a tom instead of a hen. My hopes have been dashed and the snow skiff on the ground...
Sadly I just heard her... him now gobble, a few times :'( dang.... now I have to think of a new name for him.... or keep GG and name him George instead of Gloria
they are getting along a bit better eafh day... I'm gonna just wait it out and hope to have a pair, I was hoping to get lil turkeys in the spring. So far this morning I've not heard a gobble from her and she's not been chasing so aggressively. Unfortunately there is snow today but I will just...
this is chicken little my leghorn rooster. He's a cute funny lil guy, hes only maybe 6 months old and my leghorn hens kinds boss him around but he hangs out with my welsummers and does just fine.
I'll have to set up my bench by the coop and do some turkey stalking on my day off... if it does turn out to be a boy should I try and get a trade for a hen, ask for refund,or just sock it up to experience and look for a hen elsewhere?
Getting turkeys wasnt exactly part of my whole chicken...
I've got a similar question, I bought what I was told was a hen but once I got it home and the neighbors tom came over it started acting more like a tom... other then vent sexing is there a sure way to tell??
