Last year, I was gifted 17 Ameraucana day old chicks by my son. It was quite the surprise, one for which we were completely unprepared!
My son thought he & his Dad could throw one together in a couple of weeks - which lasted from May through September. I love the result.
Meanwhile, I've been trying to learn as much as I can about chickens.
The original group survived both me & our Canadian winter. I hatched some chicks this spring & sold the fathers (I hope) & gave away 2 hens, so I currently have 20 hens & 2 roosters.
