Automatic coop doors: I'd love your input

Check out the Pullet Shut door. I have had my first one for over 8 years and it has never failed to open or close the entire time I have owned it. It is a well made, dependable door that you will get many years of use out of.

Amberlink, Amber Link, Amber Star Longevity? How Old Can They Get?

I had four of them and the longest living one made it to four years old. The other three died at three years old. I loved their sweet personalities, but was disappointed in their short lifespans. I currently have a black sexlink that will be thirteen in April, so that don't always have short...

    Question For Turken/Naked Neck Owners

I feed them either an all flock or a chick starter with oyster shell in a separate dish. The majority of my flock are older birds that are 6 and above. One died of reproductive issues and the other I am unsure of. I only purchased 3 along with several other breeds and the turkens are the only...

    Question For Turken/Naked Neck Owners

How long are your turkens/naked necks living? Mine have died before the age of 4. I was just wondering if they tend to have a shorter life span than other breeds. I would love to get more because of their amazing personalities, but I hate losing them so soon.

    Chicken with infected lump

Thank you for the warning. I have been washing my hands, but I will be extra cautious now. I will contact the vet on Monday. I couldn't get into an avian vet so I have a regular vet helping me out. The vet prescribed Clavamox for her and it did not help at all. Thanks for your help!

    Chicken with infected lump

She is eating and drinking fine. I just started flushing it with chlorhexidine and applying the plain antibiotic ointment after. Prior to this, it was being flushed with a tetracycline solution I got from a veterinarian.

    Chicken with infected lump

I have an over 8 year old hen with a lump between her tail and vent area. The lump has an open sore in it and it continually fills with pus. This has been going on since July. I have treated her with over the counter products and taken her to a veterinarian where she was given an antibiotic and...

    Auto Door Openers

I have been using the Pullet Shut door since October of 2015. It has been a reliable door the entire time. It has never failed to open or close at the programmed times the entire time I have owned it. I would definitely purchase one of their doors again because I know they are not only...

    Baby Chick Not Growing Feathers

My slow feathering chick is now 15 weeks old. She still has pin feathers down the middle of her back and not much of a tail, but is otherwise feathered out like the rest. I thought for sure the slow feathering meant I had a surprise cockerel, but at 15 weeks there is little comb and wattle...

    Respiratory Illness

Doxycycline works great for respiratory disease symptoms. Cutler Poultry Supply sells packages of the powder to add to their drinking water. Its easy to mix and works great. I would do a minimum of 30 day egg withdrawl to be safe.

Does slow feathering always = rooster?

I have a similar one. It took weeks for her to even start feathering. She is currently 8 weeks old and still has no feathers down the middle of her back and her tail is basically non existent. At this point, I believe she is a pullet based on comb and wattle color and development.. I thought for...
