I have some questions. My girl isnt acting herself. Shes lethargic, isnt moving around alot but is eating and drinking. She hasn't started laying yet but usually doesnt let us pick her up. The last 2-3 days shes let us pick her up, sat in warm water baths and just incase has been dosed with...
Poor thing is so weak he doesn’t move at all..just lays on his back and shakes periodically. I’ve been by his/her side constantly literally haven’t slept in 2 days :( I feel so bad for it praying to god it makes it it’s def a little fighter :)
So I have a duckling that’s momma broke the egg open before it was fully ready. I’ve had him in the incubator for 2 days and his umbilical cord isn’t drying out. It appears that the yolk has already been absorbed but his belly is still distended. I gave him a little nutridrench, and put...
My momma duck is doing the same thing I’ve tried 3 separate times putting the duck back under her and EVERYTIME she stomped on it or ripped the shell off.. I ended up taking her out and incubating but there’s 4 more that haven’t pipped yet and I don’t know what to do with them
Here's my story: I hatched and hand raised my roo! He was so sweet the most adorable he was never a problem. Once he hit his teenager stage his hormones started to flare up and he started wanting to be boss. That's when we butted heads. I had to show him I was boss. Every now and then he'll do...
I agree with her your his rival if u let him think he's the head roo it'll only get worse my advice is to put him in check before he becomes very aggressive. I'm not saying to hurt him at all I'm just saying to make him understand your the boss.
Mine does a circling leg dance thing right before he attacks sometimes it's a warning to back off but we never back down usually I'll stomp my feet or yell at him a little letting him know I'm boss and he'll walk away but I know his personality and feel comfortable doing that to scare him back...
So I had one of them hatch a few mins ago and it of course wasn't a Pekin!! He/she is a Pekin Muscovy mix!! So that is the reason for it taking so long!!
Would make sense!! That sneaky boy !! Thanks for your help!! I appreciate the responses and @chickens really what humidity level would u recommend for hatches during and at lockdown?
The one hatch that I had fail was the only hatch that I kept the humidity low after I started raising my humidity my hatches started doing a lot better... the styrofoam incubator that I made sweats so I loose a lot of the humidity at lockdown my air cells where right where the should be...idk...
Sorry I meant decreased humidity during the end the 80-85 was only during lockdown I was adding water in the beginning when I noticed they were small I DECREASED humidity but during lockdown I increased it back up so at the beginning it was 80 I dropped it towards the end to even the air sacs...
I set them all at the same time no duck sat on them I've never had a hatch this far apart and before hatch I monitored the air cells and some looked to be a little small so I increased humidity towards the end and 80-85 has been during lockdown their is one male Muscovy so I thought maybe it was...
I'm using a homemade styrofoam incubator and I've done hatches before and never had any success under 80 may have to do with my area but 85 is what works for my incubator anything under that usually fails :(
