    Prolapsed vent—egg folded inside

Sorry Just saw this! She’s acting totally fine, but as of today still has some dead tissue hanging on. It’s come loose in a few areas but still attached enough in others I haven’t been able to remove it. I’m keeping antibiotic ointment around the ridge of her vent, and doing bath soaks and...

    Prolapsed vent—egg folded inside

More of her tissue has shrunk, giving better visibility this evening to the other side of her prolapse where the poop was coming from. While we did use dawn and tried to loosen and clean the old tissue and gunk away, there were still a few spots attached well enough that I felt it would...

    Prolapsed vent—egg folded inside

Fascinating! Thank you so much! Edited to add: Just to clarify: If poop is not coming out the vent/cloaca, and you can see the vent is healthy and intact, the only other way I could see it coming out a different hole is through a fistula, otherwise you would see a protrusion coming out of the...

She’s not pooping from her cloaca, do you think she has a fistula?

    Prolapsed vent—egg folded inside

Is it possible she has a fistula? She’s still pooping from the side and not the actual vent revealed behind that ruptured egg.

    Prolapsed vent—egg folded inside

Update: You were right! It was a soft “shell” that detached. I soaked her again today and while cleaning her up and using ointments separated the two successfully. Smell has been deadly. Pics attached! My question is all the build up against her skin—looks like ridges and rot, will that need...

    Prolapsed vent—egg folded inside

Yes you can see the opening of the vent on the other side (pic attached). It is somewhat leathery and tough despite all the ointment. Is that ok? She’s still pooping just fine and it doesn’t seem to affect what’s happening on the opposite side. When you say see if I can start loosening the shell...

    Prolapsed vent—egg folded inside

Tonight I was cleaning and reapplying ointment when I noticed the skin on the prolapse had thinned on one side to the point where you could see liquid through it, much like a blister. It wasn’t long before it ruptured. Besides a significant amount of liquid, egg yolk also came out. No shell. I...

For the most part. I bought the petites which are 200 mg per tablet. First day she got one. Today I crushed up 2, knowing some would be lost in the process of getting her to take it. Seemed to work and she took most of the two today so I’d estimate she got at least that if not a bit more.

    Prolapsed vent—egg folded inside

Not sure. She won’t let me do much to check, either. I’ve tried sliding my finger in the fold and she’s not ok with that. I did try to use a syringe to put a little lubrication inside, but that’s all she tolerates. I’m not sure what a protrusion normally feels like—weight or feel of what’s...

    Prolapsed vent—egg folded inside

Thank you! I’m really not sure there’s an egg to pass in the protrusion or not. I thought there was at first but I’m less convinced now. Just more confusion over all. 😢

    Prolapsed vent—egg folded inside

Update: she’s acting more like herself today. Up and around the house, eating and drinking well. Bathed her again and reapplied all the stuff. Gave her another calcium + D3 via syringe. Eating regular feed as well as fruits, veggies and scrambled eggs. Unfortunately her vent protrusion doesn’t...
