I haven't heard of Round Up staying in the soil that long either. According to the MSDS sheets Round Up has a 2-174 Day half-life in the soil. So Round Up *could* be latent in the soil for anywhere from 2 days to half a year.
Additionally Round Up is toxic to Avian specie for 5 days after...
I'm assuming you are referring to the Western Diamondback...they are primarily nocturnal hunting by smell and by using a heat-sensing pit organ located between the eye and the nostril on either side of the head. It just may have been passing through unless you have tiny chicks.
It is not...
I'm no expert on diets, but our hens devoured lots of our peas with no adverse effects. They tend to stay away from our beans however so there may be something to the beans thing.
We have one SS from Ideal that is now 20.5 weeks old. She was the largest of the six we ordered. She is extremely friendly. While the others are scratching around the yard she will follow us around trying to beg treats instead. She also was our first layer just this last week. I'll post some pix...
When the label says medicated they are using amprolium which is a thiamine inhibitor. Coccidia are 50 times more sensitive to this compound than other host animals are. Coccidia need thiamine to replicate in the gut of the chicken and when the chicks are younger this can quickly overrun the...

Anything organic can be composted, but meat and grease turn rancid and putrid so your compost will begin to stink. Additionally adding these items will attract skunks and raccoons to your yard.
'Brown' is generally high carbon low nitrogen.
'Green' is generally high Nitrogen low carbon...
You will want to increase the Carbon levels to offset the Nitrogen in the Chicken manure. Add any organic matter (leaves, sawdust, dried lawn clippings) and mix it well. Turn it several times throughout the composting process to keep Oxygen getting into the pile. When the pile runs out of Oxygen...
My neighbor had the 4x4 fencing and his full-grown leghorns would squeeze through and get into my yard. We replaced that fence with 2x4 fencing that was 5 feet high and then the leghorns started flying over the fence instead!

I have a secondary water hookup that I use for irrigating my garden. It comes from the reservoirs with minimal filtering -- just enough to keep the pipes from getting clogged. Is there any problem giving this to my hens? Will it affect eggs at all?
-thx
After looking at the pictures, I made a modified version of the playhouse coop without the plans. It's a pretty simple design really. Like SewingDiva says I put the door on the gable end and then modified the door to the box with a slide/spring mechanism so I can open/close it without going into...
