I hope the previous post didn't come off wrong, I value the advice given I really do. All I can say about the coop that I will build is that is will be 4x4 + and that it will have an attached run that is at least 10' long with wire that will withstand my dogs (and trust me thats saying a lot)...
I'm thinking you misread it (not that it goes into those details), I have contacted the individual and the inside coop space is 4x4, the nesting boxes are mounted externally so dont count against the overal floor space. the run is 4x10. Even if the plan called for using chicken wire I couldn't...
Ok so the wife finally decided on one she likes and the plans have been ordered from the seller recommended by conny63malies. Our babies are 3 days old now and I'll start construction on the coop this weekend so I should have no problem getting it completed by the time they are ready to go in...
Ok so went and picked up (4) Buff Orpington's. It was a little bit of a drive to the "farm" 2 to 2 1/2 hours just outside of Raleigh, we took all three of our children (ohhh joy). once we got there it was a blast, the owners took us on a quick little tour of his "farm" (I keep putting it in...
Well If I can keep it under $500 my wife would be happy.
That seems to be the case with most of them using the commercial guidelines its just frustrating. but again excellent info
This explains it for the most part but if you go back and look at the original coop the post was started on the descriptions for that coop are
"The Tavern Chicken Coop is made from premium fully treated wood. This coop is versatile, strong and will compliment any home or garden. With the Tavern...
I'm currently planning out the design of my coop in google sketchup and it is looking like a 5Lx5WX4H coop with externally mounted nesting boxes so really the only thing that will be in that 5x5 space is water/food and roost. The run will be 10LX5W. I imagine by any measurement that will be...
What I find most interesting is that if you search for chicken coops on line I have yet to find ANY pre-fab chicken coops that follow the 4 sq ft rule. I doubt that ALL of these companies are out to just make a quick buck off the unsuspecting customer in fact I would venture that many of them...
I just looked at one of the coops in the coops section where a local HS built it didn't pay attention to the name of whose coop it was if it was yours (nuchickenontheblock) it is nice.
I am also looking at possible sheds to use but as you stated they get really expensive really quickly and for...
That is actually pretty nice and the instructions are pretty decent I think even I could follow them and build it, I will have to run it by the wife and of course modify a little bit and add an outside run but it would definitely work.
