mine free range constantly, i feed layer and mixture in the mornings and sometimes they will gobble it down. I have noticed lately they are starting to look a lot fatter and im not sure if it is feathers or actual meat. Ive never had an issue yet.

    Broody Hen Thread!

I have a question, I have a red ranger sitting on eggs, when we went down to check on her this morning we found an egg that had started to hatch but didn't show signs of movement. Is the chick gone or does it still have a fighting chance? none of her other eggs show signs of hatching.

    Red Ranger Chickens

have yours hatched yet? we found one egg this morning that started to hatched but there was no movement in the egg. Does this mean that the chick did not survive? i have 16 chicks, my 10 oldest chicks are meat birds then i have 3 leghorns and 3 red productions. this morning i noticed 3 of my red rangers dusting like crazy. they have shavings for bedding, is there a chance that there are parasites in the bedding? should i switch to something else?

    any ideals welcome!

this is what we are going to make our coop out of, i was figuring out how i wanted it done and thought i would love for some suggestions. im debating on having the lot come out the front or side. it is an old rabbit cage that we are reusing for our 16 chickens!
