We had to buy this prefab in a hurry! I’m so glad you said something. How would I go about adding some ventilation in here?? Just add some vents on either side up top? Or would putting hardware cloth over the windows for protection & opening them?
Help! I’m about to be moving into my forever home, I have 20 chickens I’ll be transporting to their new coop at my new house about 2 hours away.
This is a new coop & I’ve always used the ‘deep litter method’ with wood chips because my current coop has a sandy bottom & it is most effective for...
I’ve been using the food grade DE, sprinkling it all through the coop with fresh bedding on top, but I’m still seeing ants in there the big, black juicy fire ants. And I believe the ants killed two birds a few weeks back, that’s when I got the DE & havent had any more deaths since I put it out...
Do that have this at TSC? Is it safe to put inside coop also? Also, I have two 10’ roosting bars & a large limb they like to play on also. I’m currently trying to train them to use the bars. I have a bucket with a lid I keep their feed & wood chips in, and the big girls try to all cuddle up on...

When do I need to worry about how bigger chicks are pecking smaller chickens? All my chickens are younger than 4 months old , I also have the same number 2 month old chickens as I do 4 month olds, added them to the flock after being housed next to each other for about a month, older chickens...
Thanks so much! I wish I would have known that When they were a little younger. I’ve had two of my oldest die two days in a row a few weeks ago, came to the conclusion they could have smothered each other in their sleep, or got ate up by ants in their sleep, because they were covered with them...
I currently have 12 3 month old chickens, and 12 2 month old chickens. I’ve had them separated in different coops side by side for about a month, & finally let the baby chicks in the big coop with the big girls, I’m not seeing any serious pecking, or them keeping the babies from food & water...
