Two chicks, need a breed guess!!!

Oh my goodness, I never considered bantams. Not that I have anything against them, but we got 5 pullets that day to revamp our flock after a couple of losses and then hatching 6 roosters out of 8 chicks!!! We are looking for egg layers. But, I guess I didn't even consider that option in the...

    Bantam hen toes with bumps

Oh, and I forgot to mention, there is NO bumblefoot sores on the bottoms of her feet. Nothing looks red or open or infected. Thank you!!

    Bantam hen toes with bumps

I posted these pictures to a Facebook chicken page I am a part of. These bumps came on quickly, only a couple of days and she just started limping yesterday afternoon. She is molting, but I don't notice any other health issues about her. I am sorry if the pictures are hard to see or blurry! On...

Perfect thank you!!! I was hoping it wasn't a sad sign only roosters are on their way. I know the chances are high anyhow.

    Baby chick behavior

I have a question for those of you experienced in raising chicks. We have a group of 8 hatched recently, they are a week and a half old. Obviously we don't know sex yet. Currently, they sleep in a large dog crate at night and we move the crate next to their play pen and let them through. This...

    Broody hen day 21!

Update!!! We made a "play pen" so that they could be outside but be separated still. We used an old dog fence that can be pieced together. Then zip tied cardboard and chicken wire! Easy breezy!! Their dog crate house pushes up right so the doors match. They are happy learning to scratch and...

    Broody hen day 21!

How fun!!! It has been such a fun experience for us. Once our 8th hatched, mother was already up and off the nest. Even that little last one was chirping so sadly all alone in the nest and the hen was a few feet away with the others. But, it made it! Then, the next day, the mother hen actually...
