    Tractor Supply

If you go to the website, you can read tons of reviews. All breeds have 4 or 5 stars. Hoover's Hatchery ships them to your post office via TSC's website and they'll replace or refund any that don't make it for whatever reason. They typically send extras, too.

Feed dates -- how old is too old?

Thanks for tagging -- it sounds like they are not following procedures in rotating feed, and we'll reach out to them. Poultry manufacturer recommendations for shelf life say 2 months up to 4 months is totally fine. If you're in a humid or very wet climate, you might check for any signs of...

    Tractor supply chicks keep dying

I would agree with all the above -- check the temp in the brooder, check for Pasty Butt (which is also prevented with ample heat, complete feed, etc). This is a really good article from The Chicken Chick about chick care --...

    Tractor supply?

Hoover's let TSC know that they were having some issues with their USPS partner, so TSC pulled down the online chicks and ducks for a few days while the hatchery sorts it out. It should be back! No, avian flu isn't affecting anythinglike that. The online chicks came off the TSC website due to...

    Tractor supply?

All TSC stores have different birds -- any of 50 or more breeds -- and that is based on what hatches at the hatcheries. You can also order online now and choose the breed you want -- http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/catalog/poultry/poultry-supplies/live-baby-chicks-ducks---turkeys

    Chick shipment?

Hi there, you understand that TSC doesn't ship any birds. They are sent from the hatchery at a day old and any number of issues can come into play, from unexpected weather to mishandling at the post office or airport, to other issues after arrival at home. However, because these hatcheries are...

    Chick shipment?

Reviews are actually handled by a third party vendor that has specific guidelines as to what reviews are posted. TSC and other retailers have nothing to do with this process. Typically a review is disapproved because of things like mentioning specific pricing from other sources, bad language, etc.

    Chick shipment?

Correct -- farm stores get the birds in the exact same way. They come from the hatcheries via the mail, using methods they have fine-tuned for decades. It is obviously in everyone's interest to have all chicks arrive happy and healthy. Still, even when hatcheries and post office employees take...

    Chick shipment?

But chicks in stores all arrive the exact same way -- from hatcheries, via 2-day mail ... Millions of birds arrived to post offices, TSC, other farm and ranch store last week with very, very few DOAs, so that is truly an anomaly.

Hatchery barred breed of some sort....

People have very good things to say about the Privett birds year after year. Barred Rocks should all be great egg producers.
