    Introducing chicks to a flock

    Thank you for all of the useful information. I plan to start them in the coop this weekend where I can be out there more to watch them. It should be fairly easy to put up a partition in the coop to separate but yet still give them the ability to see one another. Thanks again.

    Introducing chicks to a flock

    Hello, I have a new batch of chicks that are nearly 5 weeks old and are all different breeds. At what age can I introduce them to my existing flock? I currenlty have 3 hens and 1 rooster in the existing flock. Also, once introduction begins, what is the best way to introduce them?

    Thanks for the advice. The box has a lip on it, but maybe it is not tall enough. It is about a 5 ft box with 4 nesting boxes within it, each box is little over a foot across. I'll try putting a little bigger lip on it to see if that will help, otherwise, I guess they can lay 'em where they want to.
