Hen suddenly unable to walk, blind, toes curled

Oh I didn’t think about that. I looked her over but this is FL and we have tiny poisonous things. They are on an open 1/3 acre during the day- fenced to keep them in and larger critters out but a snake or smaller critter could easily pass and Poppy is my number one hunter.

Hen suddenly unable to walk, blind, toes curled

My 7 year old mixed breed hen who has been amazingly healthy and laying suddenly yesterday morning was unable to stand and curled toes. Her legs do not appear to have injuries and there is nothing swollen. She also cannot see. Comb is good color and she will take food if I put it into her beak...

Surprise! I have 5 wee ones

Do you use freeze dried or live mealworms? Chicken scratch?

We hung two zappers out and because we live in FL, they zap almost every second with mosquitoes and flying beetles. I buy dried mealworms on Amazon for less than $30 for 5 lb from USA. Sometimes mix in other dried things but we have 9000 live things in the soil and they eat those. When it got...

Surprise! I have 5 wee ones

Yes, they were in a box- no food or bedding- by my back door. We have hens so I guess my mystery dumper figured i’d Take them in. I was afraid they were males- figured someone got straight run and didn’t want males. I was afraid the two big ones were not even chickens so that’s good. I live in...

Surprise! I have 5 wee ones

I found 5 wee ones that look to be about 4 weeks old in a cardboard box when I went outside today. I have 7 hens and a Pekin raised with chicken and thinks she is one. I am looking at my first chicks. They are indoors in a large container (i’m In FL so it’s hot... I suspect someone had roosters...
