    Bantams from TSC

Blue marked are a silkie mix, so they won't look like what a stamdard of perfection silkie looks like, but should still have the same soft feathering. The red marked pics is a sebright. I just bought some of these as well to see what they'll grow out to look like. They won't be mixed in with my...

    Sudden chicken death- cause?

I'm in Maurepas, La. I've had a couple die this way, though it was weeks and not minutes. Turned out to be anemia from mites, bringing out wry neck. Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I'm also in South Louisiana, and researching how to start a deep litter for our new 8x10 coop. The recent rains currently has my sand floor coop a stinky mess, which will not work! Going to look for a roll of plastic to drop over the sides for when I get my new Silkies next weekend.

    Silkie winter maintenance

They are finicky due to cold weather sensitivity. We're putting thick plastic drop drapes around the coop with a board at the bottom to weigh it down. The rain and cold air can be fatal since they have trouble maintaining their body temperature. A heat lamp is a must. You'll see them staying...
