Aw, Mary I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well and hope your health improves.
At least half of my original flock is from your silkies. My favorites are my white silkies.
Here's a fun and silly picture of one of their offspring:
And here are my original parent birds-all eggs shipped from...
Oh my goodness they are just adorable, Ron! Thank you SO much for hatching these cuties in your incubator. I'm seriously thinking I need a Brinsea now!
I wish there was a way to tag all of you for helping me with this non-hatching issue! A big THANK YOU to each one for the advice on vitamin deficiency related problems.
I'm on my way to the feed store.
Deb, I hope you will pick up these eggs. It can't hurt to try to hatch them. I've gotten...
I use Flock Raiser and do put Red Cell in the water but it very well could be a vitamin deficiency. I like that Red Cell has selenium in it, which is needful in silkies.
I might switch to game bird feed and pick up Rooster Booster as Ron suggested. I will have to see what my feed store has.
It...
What do the chicks look like? Vitamin D deficiency can cause them to die at day 18. If the dead chicks have soft bones and odd beaks it could be that.
I would try giving them Rooster Booster. The feed should be fine but they should also have free choice Oyster Shell. You might consider a higher...
Hi Ron,
I didn't answer your other question about worming & lice.
I have not wormed them but I did have a problem this spring with wild birds bringing poultry lice to them. I used a lot of things. Permethrin spray, Sevin Dust and what finally seemed to work was frontline drops! Currently...
Thank you for the offer PetRock. What "bridge" are you over-lol?
I think Deb is going to try to hatch some of these. Hopefully she can get some to hatch.
Hi Deb,
If you want to swing by after dropping off your husband that would be perfect. The airport is about 15 minutes from my house straight up Elkhorn. PM me for my address.
I'm really hoping to figure out if it's my incubators or a health problem in the parent birds or what.
Thank you for...
By the way, the picture is some of my growouts from the chicks I kept......back when I was hatching everything! These are about 5 months old and not laying yet.
My colors are separated in different pens and coops.
Ron, I have 2 HovaBators. Circulated air for day 1-18 and then the developing...

Haven't been on in a looong time but doing great with my chickens over all.
I have a proposition for a fellow hatcher though! For the last 5 months or so I've had terrible hatch rates-sometimes zero! These are from my own silkie pens. The eggs develop but then are too weak to hatch &die...
Thank you for letting me know. Everyone seems to be having a challenge with whites. Someone else just bought me out of all chicks and eggs. Finally my girls are laying again and the boys give me great fertility!
Also, I have these 3 juveniles to add soon. One might be a cockerel.
Let me know...
Hi Jeff,
I was wondering if you are getting any white (and splash) silkie chicks now?
If so, I am interested in getting a few. I have 3 white pullets of my own I'm growing out to add to my flock but want to put in some new lines. I'm also interested in buying a couple of splash but I've...
