It's been a long time since I've posted here, but I've sense become proud owner of 10 buttons.
I was wondering if anyone here had any advice as to how to introduce 2 adult female buttons to each other, because I'd like to move them both to a new and bigger cage.
Just put these 2 back together. I had the female separated for a few days because she was starting to bully the male. He only started making this noise after she was put back in.
Another update, 2 more hatched today, one is fine, but the other is a bit strange. It sits down with it's legs kinda to the side, but I've seen it walk around semi-normally (if not a bit wobbly.) They're walking and sitting fine this morning, so I'm just assuming it's a case of learning to bird
alright, so I'm now in possession of some lovely button chicks, but I feel like I'm going to get things wrong. Any advice on how high to keep the lamp, how to get them to drink/eat, and when to transfer them would be much obliged. (or any other tips one might have.)
yeah I can move her within eyeshot, but space prevents me from putting them right next to each other. I'll try to get something that allows me to place them next to each other while I either buy her a partner, or hatch one.
She does it too infrequently for me to get my camera out to catch it. I guess the question for me to ask now is if anyone knows a button breeder in indiana.
So I've found myself in possession of another button quail. The owner didn't tell me how old she was, but she's laying age. I can't put her in with my 2 as they're very pushy and try to pick at her. Am I able to keep her solo, or should I look for a male for her?
(Also, she has this weird...
Hey BYC, my female button just started laying, and I was contemplating if she doesn't get broody buying an incubator. I was wondering if any of you could recommend me an incubator that is somewhere in the range of 60~70 dollars.
I'm assigned to the aquatic section of my store, and I never really was interested in fish. (but trust me, if I was working with the birds, puppies, or cats I'd probably have 10 of them)
Alright, thank you. Another question of note, is whether or not I should keep the separate container near the food or on the other side of the cage. I have noticed the pair will sleep in dishes supplied to them if they are big enough for the both of them/near the food. (I have seen the female...
This is honestly my first pet experience, and they're certainly making it a good one. Most of the images I have of them were in the temporary 20 gallon breeder I had on hand. I've since moved them to a big ole' gerbil cage they can actually run around and jump in.
