    Just brush off the bedding. Nests are cleaned if needed. I use straw and it hasn't been an issue.

    Swarm!

    Sounds like turkey vultures. They tend to group up like that. They won't get the chickens. They like things that are already rotting. If the wing tips curled up at the end, then it was vultures. Hawks wings stay flat with the wing all the way to the tip.

    Yes and thank you. 1/31 is better than 90%. I wish they were less accurate. My neighbor was hoping for a roo or 2 from my order.

    I bought 31 pullets about 11 weeks ago and 1 crowed 3 times tonight. Hmmmmmm. I'm actually relieved as my order from TSC was all wrong and my EE's were supposed to be straight run, but fortunately, 1 acted like Foghorn Leghorn in his 2nd week. Confirmed tonight.

    I have 3 that are 9 days old and very active and extremely vocal. What can I give them to keep them entertained? They quiet as soon as I get near them and they love pecking at my hands.     Welcome, from Maybee. Check craigslist for Ann Arbor, Detroit and Toledo. Lots of locals post their extras. MeyerHatchery.com is only a few hours south and the shipping is very reasonable.

    Tell them they are bad for them. Worst ever. Yuck. Everyone I know wants fresh eggs and I can't keep up. I never have enough for me.

    It's about time. Bought 3 EEs in October as 15 wk old pullets. Must be doing something right. Thanks to all on this site. The info here has been invaluable for this 1st time chicken owner. The egg on the left will, hopefully, be my last store bought egg.
