Can you eat the eggs immediately if you used Piperazine?????

I bought some Pig Swig for our flock and their website recommends a 3 day egg withdrawal period. It also says 1 dose is enough, but I will re-administer in a few days to make sure the worms are all gone.

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

Caught Pretty Girl disappearing into the ivy(just like in "Field of Dreams") on Sunday... After she was back out with the others, I found a perfect, warm egg :) This was actually her second egg though. Heard her singing the day before, but didn't find anything. But I found the eggshell about...

    Is this pre-laying behavior?

I found this thread while searching for different pre egglaying behaviors to watch for(my girls are 20 weeks). I got caught up in your hen's story and hope she is doing well.

new way to get chickens into the coop

Man, and I thought raccoons were an issue! Your chickens are lucky to have the peacocks as lookouts.

    Hello Everyone!

With great sadness, I am offering 2 eleven week old roosters to anyone that can pick them up. They started crowing a few days ago. I am in Shoreline, just north of Seattle. My city ordinances allow me to keep them, but I want to keep things civil with my neighbors.

Getting ready for the big move

Everything has worked out great with their new home. Had/have a little bullying issue with my 3 older chicks, but they all seem to get along better in the bigger space.

Getting ready for the big move

My babies survived their first night out in their coop. I can't say I had the best night sleep-i kept imagining evil raccoon claws reaching through the wire, but glad they seem fine. My new problem is with the 3 older bullies. I am making them stay in the tractor for a few days to let the 6...

Getting ready for the big move

Thank you! I have 3 in one box and 6 in the other because of their size difference. They each had a heat lamp over them, so today I've repositioned one so it shines over both boxes.

Getting ready for the big move

The babies turn 4 to 5 weeks old this weekend, and I am more than ready to let them stay outside next week. Should i turn off their heat lamps this week so they get used to cooler outside temps? In the Seattle area, highs have been in the 60's with a few 70 degree days. Nighttime temps in...

    Hello Everyone!

My husband Geoff, son Garrett, and I live in Shoreline WA, just north of Seattle. Our family has talked about raising chickens for years now. Then this guy posted an ad on Craigslist for free chicks...and so it started! We took home 3 mixed breeds(Aracauna, Leghorn, Austrolorp were the...

any ideas on keeping your coops cool in the hot summer months.

I am totally new to raising chickens this year, so I don't know if this will help or not. It's a trick I used when I raised pet rats and mice. I peeled the labels off of cans of refried beans and froze them. Everyday during a heat wave, I would put a cold can in their cage, so they would have...
