They are both doing great, very vocal and running around.
The current issue seems they are not eating anything but the greens we put in thier water. We are giving them cracked corn and pellets (multi fowel).
I guess they will est when they are hungry!
Sounds correct, when we got them TSC recommended cracked corn and this chick starter. We have a basic poultry feed recommended for geese ( and all others) now with fresh greens.
I am putting 500 in each gal if water, I am using a blender to get it resolved in the water.
I checked on them this morning and they have not moved since yesterday morning. I took all the duds away and totally cleaned and beded to pen. I was able to open the door all afternoon and let the sun...
Yes I disposed of the duds and plan to check the rest of them today.
If they are all duds I will clean the entire pen and rebed everything.
The gander stood up yesterday but only for a bit (better than the last week) maybe progress??
Well no change with the gander, we spoke with the vet again here is he's thoughts;
He is thinking that because he has been in a smaller pen with no water to swim in ( low exercise) and eating corn and goose food that he has gained weight causing his legs to be sore and weak. They need to swim...
We got the niacin and are putting it in the water. The vet had us looking his legs and feet, feeling for warm spots ect. As for the eggs we have not checked them but will read up on how to do that or what to look for.
We have a call into the vet today to see what's next. We can try the flush as...
On a good note he does not seem to be getting worse:) we found a vet that gave us some things to check, but we haven't found anything:( on a bad note he did not try to stand at all when we picked him up, he was moving himself with his wings.
His feet seem good, joints are not swelled or warm...
Is it possible the hay we got was moldy? I didn't notice any but that's not saying it's not, I will check it out. There are 3 things that changed;
1) she is sitting on eggs so we have not cleaned the pen just adding hay to keep it dry.
2) found the wet corn in the bag and started a new bag...
We just started a new bag of corn over a week ago because the other one got wet in the bottom. We didn't feed them the wet corn once we noticed it got wet, the mash looks ok. We are going to call today see if we can find a vet.
He appears to be worse today, not eating or drinking, we have some heat on them now and not sure what else to try. If he doesn't eat or drink we can't get the vitamins in him, I am thinking it something else because he stopped eating, it should warm up later in the week so I can get them out if...
Another thing my wife told me they didn't really drink any water? They usually go through a pail every day we fill it in the morning and the evening. Getting kinda worried about him at this point, possibly her too because we have not seen her off the nest in a while.
She has been sitting on 4 eggs for almost 2 weeks now, she didn't sit on the other 12 she had laid. When we took them she built a best and wouldn't let us have the last 4.
I will try give it a try to see if it helps. The problem is it was so sudden one day good the next doing this??
