Awww so cute and they look so comfortable! Here, in a few weeks, they will be going out in the coop and they'll be put in with Buffy who is blind in one eye, a Buff Orpington who raised some other chicks last year.
So I am happy to say that now I have 4 baby chicks in the house. The moment the 2nd chick was born, the other chick quieted down and is very happy. Yesterday was when the last one was born which was a surprise to me as it is a few days younger than the others. They're happy and in good health. :-)
Great idea about the feather duster and yes, that is in there with her right now.. I'm not sure, what do you mean about put what I have in a mug, do you need put the eggs in a mug?
So for some reason, this baby chick was rejected by its moms, and I say mom's because the 2 mother hens are raising their chicks altogether. When I went down to the coop this morning to see how everyone was doing, I saw this chick all by itself and when it went over to get some food, the mother...
Ok good, so I'm not actually putting the needle in her mouth and hoping she doesn'ive suddenly. thank goodness! So I'm buying some medicine tomorrow and giving it to her.
Have you given it orally to your birds as well, and if so, do you just take it out of the bottle using a needle, then squirt it into a small container and use a different dropper to put it in their mouth? Does this make sense?
Thank you much. I didn't realise you can give that orally. I knew I had some of that in my cabinet and I looked and just saw it expired in January! The nearest one is about 50 minutes from me, but I ordered the powder form, and they said it will ship out tomorrow. I can't wait to get it, and...
Thank you for taking the time to help me .Yes, her crop is empty every morning, they are still laying eggs, even though they are about 7 or 8 years old. My husband and I looked in her beak yesterday and saw nothing. During the day there are times in which she will not open her beak to breathe...
I wish I could say when the last time was that she laid an egg, but all 6 hens lay in the same box. On average, there's about 4 eggs a day. When I pick her up from the bottom, she still is opening up her mouth to breathe and I do hear the breathing, but I don't hear rattling. She doesn't feel...
So I have a beautiful barred rock hen who is about 7 years old who for the past almost 2 weeks has symptoms that I can't figure out what it might be.
She has
*breathing with her mouth slightly open, sometimes neck stretched other times not
* can hear rattling/ heavy breathing when I pick her...
I heard that people who live in northern Missouri can have weasels. I hope it's not them, it would be a lot harder to keep them out then the hawks. I could have sworn when I opened up the back door that I heard some really strange crying noises that I didn't recognize. I played a video of hawks...
