    Hmmm... This is helpful. Very hot here. Upwards of 90 nearly every day. She's black too. Are black chickens more affected than lighter ones?

    Well thanks for the effort, but none of that really fits, particularly regarding the RI. we're still getting about 16 hrs sunlight. No predators. No stress and they roam about the yard at least 12 hrs/day. Hmmmm indeed. The welsomer, as I said, never has layed. Gotta be around 5 months

    no. they both seem healthy happy and fine just ones stopped laying and the other never has. there seems to be no molting at least as i can tell and no bugs

    I have one enormous Rhode Island who's the queen of the flock. She never lays. Another, A Welsomer who was a pullet which hadnt layed when I acquired her. It's been 4 months since then. Still no eggs. Should I give up hope on her?

    I've had a new Easter egger for about 2 months.At first she was laying fine, nearly every day. Over the last couple of weeks I've only gotten 2 eggs, both were exceedingly small without yolks. She nests everyday in a normal fashion, not brooding I think but, as I said only 2 eggs in two weeks...

    I've recently (last 2 months) allowed my hens to roam freely about in my backyard. 2 of my 5 continue to lay in the nesting box in their coop. 3, however, have begun to lay in the yard. This is fine, but it seems as soon as I find a little clutch of eggs they will then start laying somewhere...

    OMG! just found 19 eggs!

    I introduced 3 new easter eggers to my flock 2-3 weeks ago. Apparently only one chooses to lay in the nest boxes with the other hens. In the past 2 days I have found 19 eggs in two different spots in my back yard. I assume this to be about two weeks worth. My question is: Is there any chance...

    welsomer not laying

    I bought a welsomer 8 weeks ago. I dont know how old it was but the owner told me it was due to start laying "anyday" Still no eggs. How long before I abandon all hope?

    Recently acquired 3 new eater eggers. One chooses to sleep in a large shrub in my backyard. The others go with the flock into the coop at night. I'm ok with it. Is this prudent?
