I will check her for all of those things tonight... I found her in there overnight last night. This morning she wasn't and a diff hen was in the nesting box laying. Do you think brown egg hen is getting out of the box to let the others lay then goes back in there?
That would make sense why i see...
She's the only hen that lays brown eggs. Over the last couple weeks I have thought she has been broody multiple times. She is still laying eggs and hasn't stopped.
What could be happening here. She's sitting on a couple eggs, hers included. Then doesn't sit overnight. I understand they can...
Broody hen hatching eggs. I got 7 hatched eggs and the rest were either fully/ almost fully developed but dead and the others were just rotten liquid. Why would that rotten liquid happen?
My dilemma. 2 tupperwares of 2 hens with their own clutch of eggs All eggs due yesterday/today in the coop. When I looked this morning one hen had at least 1 chick the other had none.
Got home after work and the hen had moved into the other tuperware where the chicks were hatching. 2 alive 2...
I got 2 white leghorns last spring. Then I got 15 white Lohmann's from the hutterites in the fall. I am not able to tell them apart at all --- Are leghorns and Lohmanns the same?
I won't make that mistake again. I was kicking myself hard for messing with her after the fact... The 1st hen didn't care less. but not worth it, when the outcome could be like this.. :(
Not really, as soon as Hen#1 hatched on day 21 it was like Hen#2 heard the chirps and got broody that same day. Hen #2 has always been separate and hasn't been in contact with any other broody hen.
My 1st hen went broody 7 out of 10 eggs hatched, perfect no issues. Shortly after, the Hen#2 went broody (I thought it would be as easy as the first..)
Day 19 I moved the Tupperware nesting box into a dog kennel for lock down. I wanted them on a flat surface when they hatched (as per fb advice)...
