I'd love to hatch them from eggs and use one of my girls as their surrogate when she next goes broody, 1) can I do this? 2) what do I need to consider? I.e will I need to separate them from the...

    Injured wing????

I took little Lola to the vets. The vet took a look n concluded it was either fractured or broken. They could of xrayed to confirm but charged the earth n said if it was broken pinning it would be expensive! The vet prescribed anti inflammatories n advised that either way the wing would heal...

    Chickens vs Cat

I have 2 cats n 3 pekin bantams.... My chickens have been free ranging for 3 weeks nearly now..... Always supervised! My female cat doesn't seem to bothered by the chickens n quickly learnt that going too close to the chickens resulted in a drenching from the garden hose.... My male cat on the...

    FLIES!

Thank goodness for BYC! I live in the UK and only have a small garden. Even though I let the chickens free range they still are only feeling confident to explore at least a metre square. I have been cleaning out the coop daily and picking up the poo that I can see in my flower bed. Any runny...

Can one chicken lay 2 eggs in one day, as it's first eggs ever?

My hen laid to eggs today.... She laid one late Tuesday at about 6pm I figured the next would be prob Thursday morning as she wouldn't lay one Wednesday night given the 25 hour laying period. When u got home Thursday from work I had 2 eggs..... I'm pretty sure my other girls are too young to lay.
