Thanks so much for letting me know. My vet (from suburban Philadelphia - I'm not sure how many chickens they saw), said it should heal in a week, so I was worried when over 3 weeks went by and she was still had a large scab. It is slowly healing though.
I tried to have a high perch outdoors, and they did not use it. But they would go very high in the trees. But they had intermediate limbs to get up. Currently, in the coop, they are 8", and like it. (But they might like it higher in the coop if they had a choice.)
