Sorry if this is OT, but I wonder how the technique has changed in say, the last 30 years.
I remember getting a dyed chick once when I was a small girl. The color back then was NOTHING like the color you get now. Back then the chicks had just a pale, pastel sort of tint to them. Now's chicks...
I don't do anything special to my eggshells. I have a bowl on the counter for eggshells, veggie scraps and other food I intend to feed the birds. Before I take it out to them, I use a wooden spoon to crush it all up together. Doesn't seem to have caused any problems.

Oh, pish posh. Don't trouble us with this nonesense, Madam!
I've read actual AP news articles of people being refused access to public facilities with their animals because their animals aren't registered. I think IL was the most recent place where this happened (in the last few months or so.)...
I think "Managing Your Flock" is a very appropriate place to post this. Unless you want the government managing your flock for you, go to change.org and let the president elect know how you feel about the USDA tracking your chickens.
You have to sign up to the website. If I am reading...
Oh, I also wanted to add that if you are going to melt some vics on an oil burner, you should fill up the bowl with water and just add a small amount of Vics. If you burn the vics by itself, it will sizzle and pop, and very likely stink. (I am guessing because it is petroleum based, isn't it?)...

That was a disclaimer. I'm not about to suggest a minor run out and buy a bottle of whiskey! I know ol' grandma would have have given us a tablespoon of that stuff, even as youngsters, if we needed it.
Just sayin'.

How old are you? Is 88 the year you were born? If so, you are too young for my grandmother's remedy of redhots (the candy) melted in whiskey.
Another natural remedy for chest congestion is ginger. If you like ginger, you can drink it in tea. I mix some of the powder into regular hot tea. Or...
Awww. That's awesome. I am late finding this thread. But I was thinking the whole time I was reading it,
"I am a real shrew, but I wouldn't get bent out of shape about an accidentally broken piece of bake ware."
So, I figured you'd be alright.
Having said that, I have a round stone that I...

Sorry, dd. I meant to say he was definitely dead. It makes me feel good to know that everyone was so concerned about him.
We had our office Christmas party that day. One of the atendees was our maintenance person who also does taxidermy. He told me that the birds neck was broken...
Well, there is a schefflerra in a pot by the window... (feeling guilty about it.)
Still no signs of life from the box.
Makes me sad. These cardinals seem somewhat uncommon around here. It is always a shame to lose one. I was so concerned about it because one of my tenants chattered on about a...
(scared it's going to fly out and eat me)
(peeking in box)
No. I don't think he is breathing. Poor thing. I think he's dead.
Silly birds. This happens a few times a year at my office. Lots of big windows.
Cassandra
I just went out and scooped him into a cardboard box. I didn't touch him. I dont know if he is dead or not. I figure if he wakes up later, I take the box outside and release him.
Thanks, morel
