    What the heck is this?

Yes, that's it to a t, including the feather bits.

    What the heck is this?

It was so dry and full of feather flecks. I still could have a biopsy as I work at a practice, although we don't see Poultry or large animal...don't know that it's worth it though I will share it with the vets on board, one has chickens.

    What the heck is this?

Update: Clark is still a bit subdued - crowing and eating well but activity level is still low key. That being said, color is dramatically improved with the comb pinking up nicely! As for cutting it off...I have about 30 years in the vet industry, granted small animal but I'm comfortable...

    What the heck is this?

Well he's eating the right things then...tuna, broccoli, oatmeal, nutrition-drench has molasses...all high in iron. Yes tell take some TLC and time to boost him back up.

    What the heck is this?

Holy moly Clark loves tuna! He's been chewing down broccoli, mealworms, oatmeal with nutri-drench but the tuna is a big hit. I think he'd eat an entire can if I let him. I think I'll let him out with the flock for awhile in the yard. It's been so cold in Maine this winter that a day like today...

    What the heck is this?

So I definitely aggravated it yesterday and decided it had to come off. I cut it carefully working from the top and side until I was able to essentially dig it out. The remaining skin sack was too painful to cut so I flushed it with a betadine solution and dressed it with Blu-Kote antiseptic...

    What the heck is this?

Thanks all. Definitely not a tick. Size i would equate with a marble. It's somewhat translucent and feels like a ball of wax that's adhered to the feathers and skin and it is hidden by feathers. I only discovered it by feeling him all over. When I considered clipping it off I mad a few snips it...

    What the heck is this?

So my Roo Clark is looking very anemic so I wanted to give him a full physical today. The girls in the flock all seem healthy with good color. Anyway I gave Clark some poultry drench and sprayed him just in case he has mites, though I don't really see any. Anyway, he's lost weight and I...

    Duck Feed Dilemma

I too feed Mazuri waterfowl and my TSC stocks it. It's a special order but they keep 4 bags in stock at all times now so I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one feeding it. They don't carry the grower but they do carry the maintenance and it's $39.99 / #50. Scratch & Peck is great but impossibly...

Clark (Cockeral) is Suddenly Very Quiet!

UPDATE! So, after worrying for days and supplementing him with Nutri-Drench I finally, after all these weeks, have concluded that Clark must have been utterly humiliated by one of the older girls. Seriously, he's fine! He gave up crowing for sex!!! He's interested in mounting every girl in...

Clark (Cockeral) is Suddenly Very Quiet!

Well, I'm at a loss...All I can think is perhaps he was utterly humiliated by the older girls and lost his confidence. Seriously...still not crowing at all but otherwise as frisky as ever and his appetite seems to be back to normal. Can they rupture their vocal chords? It's really turning...

Clark (Cockeral) is Suddenly Very Quiet!

Some improvement. Nibbling, wanting some action with the girls. Disgustingly hot and humid here so I think he's perking up in spite of the heat. Not eating enough...giving him nutri-drench and electrolytes. Not crowing still. Thankfully I've got the next 4 days off so I'll have more time to...

Clark (Cockeral) is Suddenly Very Quiet!

Pretty much the same. No crowing, diminished appetite, slow moving, no visible distress...subdued. I gave oral electrolytes / fluids and nutri drench and an ml of olive oil. Crop was pretty empty last night and this morning. He's nibbling but not eating enough. Comb is bright red, eyes...

Clark (Cockeral) is Suddenly Very Quiet!

I did check - nothing external either. Not close by - I moved 2 hours north from where I worked in veterinary medicine... I haven't checked with my local vet - she's primarily small animal cat/dog. Can't hurt to ask if she can run one.

Clark (Cockeral) is Suddenly Very Quiet!

No cocci is not a worm it's an intestinal parasite but meds will be in the same location as other worming meds and antibiotics, though I doubt there is much available OTC. I actually doubt very much it's cocci given that I haven't seen any loose poop...or bloody poop...and it would spread...
