I tried to post pictures from my phone, I can't seem to gtlet that to work. But yes, they have been to the tub every other day. They love it. It's the only way to get them clean, as they grow I raise the water a little at a time. They can touch the bottom, but can still lift thier legs and...
5 runner ducks and 4 cauyugas.
They seem to have doubled in size, theu are covered in food. And make a huge mess. I urned off the broader light long enough to take a couple picture.
Congratulations! You have beautiful birds, and that run is huge! Your ladies are going to love it. We have had nothing but rain every single day it feels like it. And when it isn't raining its still to soggy out to do anything. I'm ready for some sunlight.
I picked up my brewers yeast at the feed store(for niacin) it was around 7.99 for a big tub. I'm going to do some research on the niacin levels in flock raiser before I actually add it. I do however highly recommend the book that everyone else told me about Storey's guide to raising ducks.its...
I actually found a small place that sells flock raiser. I pltook back my game bird crumbles and got a 50lb bad of flock raiser. I will need to check the niacin levels in the flock raised and add brewers yeast according. But I was excited to actually find it.
They will actually be living in the house until fully feathered. They have a predator proof duck house almost finished for when they are adults. I live close around neighbors, the bottom two feet of my chain link fence is hardware cloth at 1/4 inch holes. Also buried 12 inches into the ground...
Oh, I might add, that our ducks as soon as they can go outside, will have the run of 1/2 an acre for all day foraging, and will go into the "duck hut" as we are calling it for the night, they will have around the clock access to fresh water and will be fed in the evening before being put away...
After they are off starter, they have every other stage available, with the right amounts of protein, just add niacin. I have now found a place near by that carries a non medicated chick starter crumble. However it is a very small bag, three pounds I believe that is something in the range of...
I think you may be right. I remeber reading that medicated crumbles if containing amprolium isn't bad for ducklings as the medicated feeds once were. I think I found a place that sells unmedicated but its a 50 mile drive one way. Looks like I may be taking a road trip. Thanks for your advice. I...
I Have runner ducklings and cayuga ducklings that I ordered and they will be here on Wednesday. I have searched and searched and the only thing that I can find without special ordering feed is purina startena game bird starter for growth and plumage. The stores near me do not carry anything...
Yes, I will have them in the house until they are able to stay outside full time. This is my first ever ducklings raising. So I am probably going to pick up a third stock tank just to have on hand, and when they go out it will become two ponds and the third will become a patio water garden.
This will be my broader, after looking and deciding and thinking on it. I bought two of these. If they start to grow out of one, I can move some of them to the other. As it is way warm here in Texas, we will spend our days wandering the back yard after the first week or two, and them after they...
