You feed your chicken chicken?
Can't that cause mad cow disease?
Or Crazy Chicken disease? Can you still eat their eggs? I got weirded out when I read they eat eggs, but I suppose I get it.
This week we got our first eggs.
They hatched the end of February.
Plymouth Rocks. So.... 20 weeks or so. One laid a shell less egg right in front of us. Awkward!
what does it mean when the comb turns yellow only for a few minutes? When I am holding them they turn yellow. I put them down and right back to bright red. I thought I was holding them wrong.
I have three drakes and four hens and one hen Bubbles is always climbing on top of another hen Peas.
Peas doesn't seem to mind. The other two hens do not let anyone climb on top.
When I pet my chickens their faces turn a yellowish, when i put them down it goes right back to red. I thought I might be squeezing them too tight, but they don't run away. When i put them down they sit right in front of me and wait for their back rub. Any idea why their face turns yellowish?
My husband ended up making one. It was frustrating and some trial and error, but we know it is big enough, and we know it is predatory proof.
The entire bottom half if hard wire cloth. We use caribeaners to latch the openings. We free range during the day so the run it rarely used, but...
O.K....
Only the males do this in my flock. At first I thought he was choking. So is it duck purr or agitation? Our ducks are very skittish. Are they afraid or getting use to us?
I have two girls and three boys. We thought we bought all girls.
So far only our Rouen is mating with both girls. They are only 13 weeks maybe 15. I thought that was too young.
Thanks for the tip!
And Yes I would require hardware mesh and I heard caribiners work great for latches as well. Instead of reconstructing someone else's garbage I like the idea of hiring a builder. for $300-$400 I am sure I can something.
