    Orpingtons: Pullets or Cockerels?

UPDATE: Here are they chicks at 6 weeks old! I have found homes for the two known cockerels, but will post a picture of them at the bottom of the post for reference! Here are the three possible pullets: Making a funny noise to get their attention: Another angle: Chick 1: Chick 2...

    Orpingtons: Pullets or Cockerels?

I got them from a local rancher that bred/hatched them for me. I don't know what lines, or from where their original flock came.

    Orpingtons: Pullets or Cockerels?

Okay, that makes complete sense now! Thank you, thank you. I will probably update this thread in a few weeks and show how they're developing. I think there is one more out of the three that has a good chance of being a cockerel based off his legs and occassional stance, but I guess we'll see!

    Orpingtons: Pullets or Cockerels?

Sorry, I think I'm misunderstanding what you are saying. They are quick to develop, but cockerels usually aren't obvious until well over 10 weeks of age? Does that mean you are saying there is still a good chance the other three could be cockerels as well, or that they are usually quick to...

    Orpingtons: Pullets or Cockerels?

Here are pictures of the three I believe could be pullets (a few repeats of the same three chickens). The cockerel is the secondary bird in picture 5 and 7, and barely on the right side of picture 4 and 6, so please ignore him. Picture 7 has all three of the possible pullets in it. What do you...

    Orpingtons: Pullets or Cockerels?

Thank you! I figured as much, but just wanted to get confirmation that large comb at 5 weeks = 100% cockerel! There is one other I'm suspect of (no large comb or waddles yet), but body wise looks similar to that Lavender boy posted above. I will have to post pictures this evening of the three...

    Orpingtons: Pullets or Cockerels?

So it is 100% that they are cockerels if they show that much comb at this age, despite not having any waddles? I just want to make sure there isn't a chance they aren't just comby hens (not holding my breath for the Lemon)! I can only hold back three anyway, but I also wanted reference for the...

    Orpingtons: Pullets or Cockerels?

Hello All! I have two suspected Cockerels, and I'd really love all of your opinions. These chicks are a little over 5 weeks old (these pictures are from about 3 days ago), and I have two that I am definitely leaning towards rooster, but I have heard that Orpingtons are notoriously difficult...

FOR SALE: Lavender Orpingtons & Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons

Hello! I just purchased some young Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons and Lavender Opringtons - straight run, less than a week old (closer to 1-3 days old) - and wanted to see if anyone was interested in purchasing a few! I essentially over purchased in order to fill a minimum purchase requirement. They...

    Silkie thread!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I am almost 100% sure the others are pure Silkies, but this one is just throwing me off. Its bottom looks just like my black Frizzle Cochins' bottoms (a pure, bright white), and it's wings look just like theirs too. They did have Frizzled Cochins and were...

    Silkie thread!

Thanks for the tips. These are his/her wings, so I'm fairly certain she is just a blue: There is about a mm of white on the first primary feather of each wing, so I don't think she's a splash. I have a few white ones, that are already showing light amounts of blue on their wings. Its bottom...

    Silkie thread!

Cynthia12: Thank you! You have some gorgeous babies as well! What color will the one posted above end up (in your pictures) - just blue? I purchased a blue that looks very similar to that (though her primary feathers are really thick), but she has the white on her chest and white on her crown...
