Thanks, I am kind of bummed that the Pekins don't normally go broody. I really would prefer to go the mother nature route, but I want a chance for ducklings. Egg help
The first eggs I got from mine were on the small side also. I also got eggs with no shell, only the inner membrane. I had a few that were only partially shelled. This goes away quickly and the eggs become normal sized for duck eggs. Just make sure to offer up oyster shell or other source of... -

I have heard that Pekin ducks don't go broody very often, if ever, is this true or have I been fed misinformation? And even though it seems that Rouen's don't lay near as many eggs as a Pekin, is there a better chance of a Rouen going broody. Or am I fighting a "out of season" kind of issue? -
ok to feed spent grain from brewing beer
My pigs come running when they see me coming with the container I haul spent grain in. They go after it like it's candy, and I treat it as such, not a feed replacement but a treat. My laying hens, the ducks and the turkeys go nuts for it also! It took the turkeys eating it before the ducks...- cfgroen
