You have to train your dogs, don't tortue them. Train them, let them know the chicks aren't prey.

I bought my last half dozen chicks the day after they hatched, we never imprinted. They were unhealthy and they all died within 3 years. I want to buy 6 unhatched chickens from a well recognized source, any suggestions? They will be free range with plenty of treats, no rooster.

I don't know what a hatchery hen is. She is free range and we don't have a rooster, received her the day she hatched with 5 others. That was about 4 years ago. Thank you for your input! I'm going to google hatchery hen and breeder stock.
