Thanks for everyone's help. We did the cleaning and antibiotics but our hen was dead when we got home yesterday. Very sad.

I'm not sure what preconceived notions you mean? I appreciate the info about dietary needs and welfare of chickens but I need information about what to do for the injured chicken, since preventative measures aren't helping her after she's already been hurt. Can anybody tell me if there is...

    Vents

Hey guys I just have a general question for yas. We are new to the world of chickens and got our three hens about a month ago. On of them was injured and most of the tail feathers are gone so that you can clearly see her vent. I am wondering if it is normal for their vent to always be open...

From everything that people have said and what we have researched online , she was pecked because she was injured. Nothing to do with diet...they had been eating this same diet with no issues before the injury. my concern now is that she seems to be "pooping" without stopping. She is alone and...

Update: we have had her separated and in her own box for a few days now... My concern is that she does not move much still and inspite of us cleaning her up as much as possible and spraying her with peroxide, she has started to take on a very strong odor. I'm a bit worried that she isn't going...

I have read that a roster will help with hens pecking at each other? Anyone have an opinion on that?

Hey folks, We could really use some help. We are new to the chicken world and have three young hens. Whole moving our coop last night one of the ladies had her foot injured so that she always held it up. I checked it out and it was just a small cut. However, on returning home from work tonight...
