My Cayuga is 5 weeks old and has just settled in with 2 khaki and 2 cherry valleys who are 11 weeks. The older ones are all girls but I am still waiting to hear how the Cayuga sounds to determine the sex. At the moment s/he is just cheeping. Does anyone think it might be a boy? I dont...
I think it depends on when you candle. The growing embryos wont be moving around crazy all the time. Leave it a few days and candle again. You can get a candling chart on google to see what you shoul be looking for at certain days
Well if you are only using it for lockdown you will need to put water in it to keep your humidity up. I did not put water in until I went into lockdown. Just use another thermometer and hydrometer to judge your measurements. I added a non slip matting cut to the right size as I thought the...
Any advice for a weak cayuga duckling? I had two hatch and one looks great but the other cant seem to hold its head up and keeps lying flat. The good one seems to be trying to get it to stand but it is just too weak. They hatched in the night so they must be about 8hrs old max. Any advice...
Two of my three eggs pipped yesterday but did not make much progress thru the day. I left them overnight and woke up to two little ducklings :celebrate
However, one of them seems quite weak and is having trouble holding her head up. Any advice anyone? I put a pinch of sugar in the water...
Mine is just the 10 egg model and only has 3 eggs in now. I went by the thermometer I put inside the incubator which read at 37 while the bator display said 39.5. I have been spraying the eggs lightly with room temp water once a day to manage humidity. But mine started off too high so I took...
Update.....4 out of 6 eggs were fertile and growing. We candled them weekly and ditched one last night that had stopped growing. The other three have good air cells on the slant and we can see movement. Lockdown today! Thanks to everyone for all the help and advice :)
Thanks for your suggestion. Im worried as I read that ducklings should not be left in their own poop and i know it could be over 24hrs before they have all hatched. During that time I will need to keep the incubator closed. Also the plastic floor may be slippery. I might put damp kitchen...
Sorry if this sounds like a silly question.....but how do you keep the incubator clean while the ducklings are hatching if you cant open the lid? I have a janoel 10 with a plastic floor. My eggs are only on day 4 but im starting to get anxious as I just candled them and at least 3/6 are...
