    First Saturday Lime scent?

Hi all! Maybe a silly question but I’ve been using FSL for over a year and never noticed a strong odor. I just can’t recall if it’s just because I’ve never tried to smell it… I just ordered a few bags from Chewy and each one has a very strong chemical-like smell. Am I crazy or is it possible...

    Temperature question

We adopted an injured feral pigeon last year and a mate for her this spring. They live outdoors as of the summer. We’re in Washington state. The temps have been mild (around 50-60 deg) but dropping to 20 next week. The female is frequently broody. Currently nesting and is enclosed in a nestbox...

    Green urates?

One of our hens is showing green urates. Healthy enough stool overall. Not perfect but consistent with them eating some greens prior to bed. I just haven’t seen the green urates before.

Sick girl, lethargic and abnormal stool

Just gave a direct dose of corid after some nutridrench and pulled the electrolyte water, keeping fresh water with her and snacks. She ate a little bit of chick starter but is really weak right now.

Sick girl, lethargic and abnormal stool

Not well. I think I’ll try Corid today. The vet is about an hour drive and don’t want to leave her for too long to drop a fecal. She won’t eat and she’s standing with her wings down. She is taking a little water. Tried a bunch of food types but she ate one blueberry and isn’t having anything...

How often do you provide fluids overnight?

Sick girl, lethargic and abnormal stool

She’s really lethargic. It’s progressed quickly. Went from great appetite though tired to just consistent extreme fatigue. Droppings are infrequent and watery. Since she’s at POL I’m concerned about Marek’s. She’s inside and sleeping, not sure what else to do to help her. I don’t see blood in...

Sick girl, lethargic and abnormal stool

Emailed my vet, hoping to bring a sample in in the morning. A little worried she won’t make it through the night. 😞 Would you start Corid or a dewormer preemptively, or just wait even with risk of missing?

Sick girl, lethargic and abnormal stool

She’s still eating but also isolating. I had her inside for a bit today but tried having her out for awhile too to see if she perked up. Thinking I’ll keep her inside tonight.

Anyone know what these are? (Winged insects)

Updating this thread! I asked 2 reputable entomologist friends and seems like they’re book lice. Despite the name, should be harmless. For posterity as well, in Washington state.

Sick girl, lethargic and abnormal stool

Oh also, just for posterity she’s a 5 mo lav Ameraucana. Not vaccinated for Marek’s, but we did not introduce to the flock until about 12 weeks. From a local and reputable breeder who focuses on resistance. We have 2 Silkies from same breeder who are about 1.5 years and were hopeful about some...

Sick girl, lethargic and abnormal stool

She hasn’t laid yet. She’s 5 months almost to the day. No worming but I do prevention. Not opposed to worming but only once have I seen it, about this time last year. No other girls are impacted in our flock. No signs of external parasites at all. I check them frequently, mostly at night but...

Sick girl, lethargic and abnormal stool

One of our 5 month old girls is ill. She has abnormal stool (pic below) and has been standing alone, ruffled. Gait is steady but very slow. Nothing visible on her (parasites), no signs of internal parasites, no injury, no discharge from eyes or nose. I started her on clavamox last night just...

Anyone know what these are? (Winged insects)

Not to my knowledge. I keep a super clean coop. I don’t think they’re fruit flies but kind of bizarre that they’re in/around the coop. They’re not hovering on poop or anything. Just on the walls. None of the girls have them on their body
