It has only happened to 2 out of 13 eggs (and I wouldn’t say they are both the exact same description either, as 1 was just lightly yellow bruising near air cell, and the other, turned a dark shade over about half the egg) . That was the one I was most concerned about, despite candling prior to...
Update by the way, about 3 hours after my post, the darkened egg has since pipped its shell, so phew,it can breathe at least. It's the first out of 13 to pip.
Yes I'm starting to realise that... this is my first time incubating anything. Update by the way, about 3 hours after my post, the darkened egg has since pipped its shell, so phew,it can breathe at least. It's the first out of 13 to pip.
Oh ok thanks, it is within air cell area. What about the other egg with darkened air cell shell? Before I placed at lockdown this morning, I did candle them all, and all are moving, including the darkened one. But just wondering whether it’s a sign it’s blood vessels are dying or it’s struggling...
I am now on day 25 and have just removed off turner and placed on hatching grid for lockdown. Plus filled second water reservoir and reduced temp from 37.7 to 37.2 (as per the Borotto incubator instructions). Yesterday, it appeared a lot of my eggs were already shadowing in air cell, which did...

An update on the stuck eggs after daily misting…for some reason, it just stopped happening a couple of days after I posted my thread, which is peculiar?? Maybe the bloom residue eventually became less greasy after misting, and so prevented them from sticking to turner.
But anyway, I am now on...
@Ridgerunner This is how the incubator looks by the way. The egg slots on the red automatic turner are uniquely shaped, to be able to hold 1 egg or 4 quail eggs. But the wider eggs are getting stuck to the slots .
Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply!
Yes, that’s what I thought about daily candling, that it can’t do no harm as long as careful. Like I said though, I wouldn’t be daily candling if it wasn’t for the fact I am daily cooling/misting, so the lid is off anyway. Otherwise, if they were chicken...
Hi, thanks for my first reply and your advice.
Naturally, if it wasn’t for the fact I am daily misting, I would follow the limited 3 times candling per cycle, but I figured if the lid is being opened and the eggs cooled/misted once a day, then it wouldn’t cause any harm to have a quick candle...
Hi everyone, first post on here (after much browsing of BYC I might say) and I could do with a little beginners advice to a problem I’m currently having whilst incubating my Indian runner duck eggs.
I am on day 14, and for the last 2 days when I have gone to cool/mist my eggs (as per the...
