I am currently using pine shavings as a Deep Bedding Method; however, I prefer using sand by keeping it clean with a kitty litter scooper. Sand, in my opinion, does not smell, is much cleaner (and dryer) and a LOT less work for me. I am only using the shavings now because I live in Florida...
