Coop design feedback - Austin TX

I thought I’d post the final coop I built. I learned a lot about woodworking and building in the process! Attached are also close ups of the gravity waterer and pvc feeder (will probably make another feeder later on). Now the challenge is finding pullets near me, all the hatcheries I’ve looked...

I don’t use FB too much but I’ll check out the group and look for mentions of Burnet. I’ll let you know if I need any help getting chickens. Thanks so much!

I’m curious, where did you get your chickens from? I was looking at either Callahan’s (reviews don’t look good, but it’s close) or a hatchery nearby. The reviews for South Grown Chicken Farm look good.

Good idea, I haven’t mapped out exactly how far the chicken door is from the edge of the run, but I could definitely move it closer to center. Oh thank you! I am/was a MechE and worked in mfg so I know a bit about drafting and drawings (although never drafted a coop before!)

Thanks! I didn’t even think about their “territories” based on rank. I thought about the panels trapping heat, they sell a variety with a % of light leak so was going to do opaque for the coop, and semi translucent for the run. Was going to use two hasp latches with carabiners to lock it down...

Coop design feedback - Austin TX

Hey all, I drew up plans (sorry if it’s hard to read) for a stationary coop with attached run to house 4 chickens. Austin is pretty warm year round with the exception of ~3 weeks or so in winter, so I’m not sure if I’m over/under designing for coop ventilation, I’m planning for a hardware cloth...

    Hi from Austin

Hi I’m Roxanne and I’m very new to backyard chickens (both the activity and this site!). Also relatively new to Austin, moved here about 1.5yr ago. (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? New to chickens, started considering them once we bought our house. (2) How many...
