I didn't think about that. I will get them something to keep them separated. Thank you for the suggestion.

    2 Clutches In Incubator???

Thank you so much!!! I was thinking that the five day difference shouldn't really be that much but didn't want to cause the younger ones to get too wet. I think this suggestion will be my best bet. It is my first time incubating so I have been candling and weighing regularly and think I will...

    2 Clutches In Incubator???

So, long story as short as possible, I had a broody hen and wanted her to hatch some duck eggs. She was doing great but I also wanted to try some in the incubator for a little extra insurance. Well the other day she decided she was not interested in sitting any longer and abandoned the nest...

Lost track during incubation. Need help!

I think this article would be helpful to you. It talks about candling and seeing when they are about ready to pip. Hopefully by doing this you could get a good idea of when to enter lock down so that they don't get stuck in there last days. Hope it helps. :D...

broody hen - sitting way too long - can I give her new eggs?

Make sure you watch her closely if you do try to put eggs under her. I had a hen that was broody for about 2 weeks so I put some duck eggs under her to hatch and after about a week and a half she just got up one day and decided she was done sitting. Luckily I was out side so see her get off...

HELP!! HEN WAS SITTING ON EGGS AND NOW SHE SWITCHED TO A DIFFERENT CLUTCH!!

I would get them to an incubator as soon as you can and then candle after a few days to see if they are still viable. You could also move the eggs she was sitting on back under her until you can get the incubator up and running so she can keep them warm. Just mark them so you know which are which.

My poor Waddles, can you help?

It is with a heavy heart that I must report that Waddles passed away last night. I do not know what happened to make him pass so suddenly because he was seeming to get so much better but he was gone when I woke up this morning. Thank you all for your help.

My poor Waddles, can you help?

Oh my, I was in such a panic today when I went out and Waddles was missing. I seriously couldn't have been inside for 10 minutes and was out side for an hour with it before I went in and it didn't even want to get out of the kennel the whole time I was out there. I put it out two times and it...

    Thanks for having me!!

I do like how easy the kiddie pools are to keep clean and move around so I may just go with bigger sized or at least more of them. All 18 ducks trying to get into 2 small kiddie pools is quite the sight some times. And I currently don't have any turkeys as something got them last year, we...

My poor Waddles, can you help?

@DuckyDonna The most serious of the wounds was the feathers that had been plucked from its lower back. I did not see any actual puncture wounds but it was hard to tell with all the missing feather holes. But there was no serious bleeding or anything like that. But all the research I have...

My poor Waddles, can you help?

Oh NO!! That is awful!! Yes, they are ferocious little creatures and we have way too many around. And the same problem with live traps. We were able to capture a few of the kits this year and relocated them but there was 4 dens in that area and they were all full of kits.

My poor Waddles, can you help?

@Magnolia Ducks It has only been 5 days now and I have already seen so much improvement I am hopefully for a full recovery. It is eating, drinking, and pooping like normal the only thing that it seems to have a hard time with is walking foward. I will try to get better videos uploaded. New...
