My five RIRs slowly started laying mid April at just over five months and are reliable producers.
The eggs are getting slightly larger. It's like it still takes three to equal two.
Any idea when I can expect full size eggs?
The wind was 155 mph and the water rose so fast I climbed into the attic.
Yeah, I know - dumb move - should have left the house hours before. "Go bag" was packed and cat was in the carrier. I'm talking really rapid flooding.
It came so quickly, I don't think they had a chance to get on the...
Thanks. That's what I hoped to hear.
They have two sleeping roosts - one completely enclosed and another for summer sleeping.
Wooden eggs are just waiting for introduction.
Mostly for lack of storage space, my nesting box lives in the coop. It's right where previous hens used it and not taking up any floor space. They have plenty of room to roam in a two story coop which also has an "annex."
Chickens are a couple of months from laying and have shown no interest...
We've had some bad storms here in SW Florida but my sturdy coop is still standing. So I'm trying again.
Ian drowned my hens (and should have drowned me!).
Five new RIRs are doing fine. I'm making plans for the next flood.
Glad to be back to pick your brains.
